Promoting multilateralism through digital trade: What role for parliaments?

Meeting

Public Forum 2025 - "Enhance, create, and preserve".

The Public Forum is the World Trade Organization's (WTO) largest outreach event for discussions on global trade issues, while the Parliamentary Conference on the WTO (PCWTO) is a separate, joint initiative by the Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) and the European Parliament to ensure parliamentarians have a voice in WTO matters and to improve the WTO's transparency and accountability. The PCWTO offers parliamentarians a platform to gain firsthand information from WTO leaders and to exchange views with colleagues on trade policy, directly contributing to the multilateral trading system and its impact on constituents.
Parliaments have a responsibility to design legislation that supports cross-border digital trade, ensures equitable access and reinforces the multilateral framework in our digital economy.
The upcoming WTO Public Forum's Parliamentary Conference (PCWTO) will consider the theme to help parliaments navigate these challenges. World Trade Organization
